The Beadle County Commission heard a presentation Tuesday regarding an new initiative from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. The program pertains to livestock development projects.
Scott Amundson, a Community Development Representative for the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, made the presentation.
Commissioner Tom Hansen says the initiative is an offshoot of legislation that was passed in 2013.
Hansen says it covers feedlots, poultry, swine, dairy and aquaculture projects.
Hansen says only counties with zoning ordinances that apply to livestock, such as Beadle County, are eligible.
