Concealed Carry Bill Passes Out of State Senate Committee

A bill to allow people to carry concealed weapons in the Capitol Building in Pierre passed out of the Senate Judiciary committee.

Bill sponsor Senator Brock Greenfield of Clark says the bill extends rights that gun permit holders already have.

Senator Art Rusch of Vermillion says the current system is working well.

Currently the Capitol is included in a state law prohibiting guns in county and circuit courthouses.

The bill passed out of committee on a four to three vote.
