The length of transient merchant licenses vary across the state. Mitchell and Watertown’s say a license is good for up to six months at a time. Yankton and Brookings is roughly a monthly license and Aberdeen varies by day, week and month. A proposal, likely to come before the City Commission next Monday, would call for a transient merchant license that is good for 90 days, but that up to four such licenses could be purchased at one time, creating essentially a one year license at most.
