COMMISSION HAS FIRST VOTE TO REPEAL COVID ORDINANCE

The Huron City Commission met in executive session following their regular meeting.  They met in executive session to discuss the repeal of ordinance 2207 which was put in place as Huron surfaced as a early hot spot for Covid-19.  Commissioner Kludt said that they had a good discussion and it was a difficult decision much like the decision to pass the ordinance in late March.  He said it was the correct decision then and it is the correct one now with no new positive Covid-19 cases in over one month in Beadle County.  He said that he felt the public had become very familiar with the steps needed to avoid contracting the virus.  The vote was unanimous and the second vote will be Saturday May 9th and will be broadcast on the City of Huron Youtube channel.  Public comments are welcome at that second reading which will include a resolution of additional guidelines moving forward to continue to control the spread of the virus.  Following the second vote the repeal will need to be published then the ordinance will be repealed after 5 days.  The public was praised for their efforts that dramatically slowed the spread of the virus in Huron and Beadle County and were reminded that we need to continue with the steps outlined by the CDC.
