Commission Examines Beer Gardens Before Smoking Ban Vote

McGirr also brought to the Commission, a slightly different version of original ordinance…

Most of the provisions in the Beer Garden ordinance attempt to tie the Beer Garden itself business building it my mirroring much of what the existing establishment does with its liquor license from hours of operation to seating capacity. The ordinance also excludes the City of Huron and the State of South Dakota. Jim Sheffield who owns Mars Bar and Liquor and already has an outdoor beer garden in place thinks the ordinance should be all or nothing…

Sheffield’s beer garden conforms to the provison of the ordinance and would have been grandfathered into the law.  The original ordinance and Mayor’s ordinance will be combined into a new draft ordinance on beer gardens to go before the City Commission next week.
