COMMISSION DECIDES ON DISPENSARY NEXT TO MOVIE THEATER

A proposal came before the Huron City Commission Monday night by Jeffrey Van Winkle to operate a medicinal marijuana outlet at 233 Dakota avenue south next to the Huron movie theaters.  Van Winkle was approved for an outlet on old Us 14.  This if approved would replace that location.  The hearing examiner requested denying the application.  The owner of the Huron Movie theaters in Beadle County States Attorney Mike Moore, he asked the commission to deny the request and spoke of his concerns.

The medicinal marijuana outlet would follow city zoning guidelines.  Moore felt the location just down the sidewalk from the theaters would be the worst possible location.

Jeff Van Winkle said the outlet would have entrance only from the back without signage he spoke about how the front of the building would appear.

The commission approved the conditional use permit on a 4-1 vote.
