The city commission has approved the first reading of an ordinance that would change the name of “U Avenue” in the West Industrial Park.
City Planner Ralph Borkowski explained how the street got the name in the first place.
Borkowski said David McGirr, President of the Greater Huron Development Corporation requested the name change at last week’s meeting of the city planning commission.
Second reading of the ordinance will be held March 26th.
In other business, the city gave first reading of an ordinance that recognizes Seventh Street northeast from Dakota Avenue to Beach Avenue and Utah Avenue north from Seventh Street to Fourth Street as emergency routes as it pertains to snow removal.
While the two sections already have emergency route signage neither is listed in the city ordinance.
