The Dakota Style Chip plant located approximately five and half miles east and two miles north of Clark was destroyed by fire. The Clark County Sheriff’s office says the fire call came in at about 1:30 Sunday morning. When firefighters arrived at the plant it was completely consumed in flames. Firefighters from Clark, Henry, Garden City and Bradley battled the blaze and did manage to save an adjoining building. The second structure, which is attached, did sustain some damage. The company also has another facility in the community of Clark. The fire marshal was on scene this morning, however an investigation will not begin until the area is safe to enter. The building that burned was described as an older, large barn that had been converted into a potato chip production and packing plant. The company has been in operation since 1985. No one was hurt and firefighters were on location until 7 a.m. Sunday morning.
