The cold winter is leading to issues with the City of Huron’s water service. City Engineer Mike Wever says frost in the ground is much deeper than normal and some residential water service lines are freezing between homes and the city’s water mains. Wever says the snow on the ground now along with forecasted temperatures in to the 40’s next week will help ease the freeze. As a precaution to keep the water flowing in your home, Wever says homeowners should run some water through a faucet for a minute in the morning, at noon, after work and before you go to bed. If you get up at night, running the faucet then should also help.
