City Gets Update on Iverson Expansion, Rental Activity at Wheatgrass and Jefferson Village

Last night, the city got its semi-annual report from Greater Huron Development Corporation.

During the report, President and CEO David McGirr gave a status update on Iverson Auto’s Southtown expansion.

McGirr said moving the Ford and Chrysler brands under one roof created some unique challenges for Iverson.

He says Iverson’s plans have received approval.

McGirr says his office is working with several businesses on relocation and expansion plans and even mergers.

McGirr also reported on rental activity at Wheatgrass Village and Jefferson Village. Rental activity at Wheatgrass Village is ahead of the developer’s pre-construction estimates, with 84% occupancy. Jefferson Village occupancy is at 47%.

Also last night, the commission accepted the retirement/resignation of city planner Ralph Borkowski and approved the Huron Fire Department’s proposal for a new fire cadet program.
