Monday night, the city got its semi-annual update from the Huron Event Center.
Executive director Brenda Jager reported that the Huron Event Center was awarded 6 conventions in the first half of 2019. 17 conventions chose other locations for their events.
Jager said weddings are down.
Jager says food sales were down slightly for the first 6 months of the year, however, this was offset by an increase in liquor sales.
New carpet will be installed in the event center. Jager said that work will begin in the fall.
