The city is looking at an odd/even watering schedule to deal with peak water demand during the summer months which has been amplified by the water usage of new industry and Wheatgrass Village.
City engineer Brett Runge gave a presentation on the proposal for an odd/even schedule from June 1st through Sept. 1st at last night’s city commission meeting.
Runge says other options which include purchasing more water from Mid-Dakota and an expansion of the water treatment facility would come with a price tag and result in higher water rates.
Also, last night commissioners accepted a quote of $49,121 from Cummins Sales and Service of Sioux Falls for a backup generator for City Hall and the police/dispatch.
