The Huron City Commission held its weekly meeting Monday night. Commissioners approved a change order and payment request by Asphalt Paving for curb and gutter work and Handicap ramp installation. A 31 day time extension was part of the request. Commissioners agreed to a request by the South Dakota State Fair for compost from the City’s compost site. The State Fair uses the material to deal with muddy areas around the grounds and at Dakota State Fair speedway and west camping area. The Fair and City share in the hauling of the compost which the City must get rid of before winter. A trailer court license was approved for Huron Mobile Estates. Also approved was an agreement with the Department of Transportation for work at Huron Regional Airport and a contract with the Department of Education for consultant services to host Scrubs Camp at the Huron Community Campus. The program exposes students to careers in the medical field. The meeting adjourned to go into executive session after an hour and 18 minutes.
