Another robust agenda greets the Huron City Commission tonight. The meeting will start by the Commission meeting as the Board of Adjustments for two variance requests. One variance is asking for a lot to be subdivided into two parcels. The second variance is filed by the Huron Seventh Day Adventist Church. They are requesting to allow a school where a school is not currently a permitted use. Commissioners will consider a 12-item consent agenda and two bid items. Up for consideration is awarding a bid for this year’s water main replacement project and setting a bid date for 2016 street milling and overlay projects. Semi-annual updates get underway tonight. People’s Transit and the Huron Event Center will give briefings to the Huron City Commission. Commissioners will hold second reading of the Supplemental Appropriations ordinance and will consider authorizing the Huron Get Fit Committee to apply for a Workwell Partnership Grant. Commissioner Doug Kludt will continue a series of updates from Commissioners on the departments and boards they oversee and Commissioners will use a work session to talk about the city’s aging Public Works building and it’s possible replacement. Mayor Paul Aylward hinted at replacement during his State of the City address last year. There are no scheduled executive sessions. The Huron City Commission meetings tonight at 5:30 PM at the Huron Municipal Building. The meeting is open to the public.
