The Huron City Commission holds it’s final meeting of August tonight. Commissioners will consider awarding a bid for the construction of a new concession building at the Kunhart Softball Complex and will consider approval of two payment requests. The Commission will hold a public hearing on a special event On-Sale Alcoholic Beverage license filed by the Huron Chamber for a Chamber Mixer on September 9th. The group will also consider a parade permit, temporary street closing and noise permit filed by Cody Gardner for a protest regarding the legalization of medical marijuana and industrial grade hemp planned for August 29th. Commissioners will consider a resolution regarding school resource officer services with the Huron School District and a resolution authorizing Mayor Paul Aylward to execute and file a grant for playground equipment at Crown Park. The Commission will consider a hiring recommendation for the library, declaring surplus the merry-go-round from the old municipal pool and consider approval of five volunteers to become Reserve Police Officers. The Commission will also make announcements regarding the Labor Day holiday. The Huron City Commission will hold a work session to continue assembling the 2015 city budget and will meet in executive session for a contractual matter. The Huron City Commission meets tonight at 5:30 PM. The meeting is open to the public.
