The Huron City Commission will put the Commission Chambers at the Huron Municipal Building to good use tonight. Commissioners will tackle a full two-page agenda, that begins with the Commission meeting as the Board of Adjustments to consider five variance requests ranging from a request to have a tattoo and body piercing business in an area not permitted by code to, construction projects and a lot subdivision request. When the City Commission reconvenes, they will consider a lengthy consent agenda and payment requests for Splash Central and the north water tower. A public hearing will be held on the transfer of a retail on-off sale malt beverage license for a restaurant at 334 Dakota Avenue. Commissioners will consider a request by the South Dakota National Guard to use the old West landfill for training. An agreement for professional services with Stockwell Engineers for the James River Master Plan will be considered. The Commission will also take a second look at an intergovernmental agreement with the Huron School District regarding snow removal for the shared Tiger Activity Center-Splash Central parking lot. Departmental items include presentation of the 2012 audited financials. Commissioners will consider the resignation of Karen Weeldreyer from the Historic Preservation Board and consider appointing Shirley Apley to fill the position. The Commission will consider three human resource items as well. There are no scheduled executive or work sessions for the Huron City Commission, who meet tonight at 5:30 P-M. The meeting is open to the public.
