The Huron City Commission meets tonight at the Huron Municipal Building. The Commission will meet as the Board of Adjustments for the hearing of two variance. The first is a variance from Lori Rathjen deals with the construction of a new home where the proposed setbacks will not meet code and a second variance is filed by Joshua Haeder, who wants to operate an auto dealership in an area zone one-family residential. When the City Commission reconvenes, Commissioners will consider a payment request for a water main replacement/lift station project. The Commission will hold two public hearings on liquor licenses including a transfer of a license from Mars’ Bar to Wal-Mart. The Commission will also consider a request from the 153rd Engineer Battalion to use the old west landfill for a training exercise April 14th and 15th. Commissioners will hold second reading of an ordinance to revise streets names and get a presentation of the unaudited financials for 2011. The Commission will consider hiring recommendations for part-time golf course employees and volunteer firefighters and an Experience Works employee for the Library. The Commission will also consider a resignation and appointment to the Huron Board of Historic Preservation and will hold a work session regarding police department policies. The Huron City Commission meets at 5:30 PM and the meeting is open to the public. Also meeting tonight at 5:30 PM is the Huron School Board.
