The Huron City Commission will meet as the Board of Adjustments for a variance request to begin their weekly meeting tonight. The Board of Adjustments will reconsider a variance request by Gary Rudloff, the owner of Rudy’s Auto Body and Towing, to park tow trucks on a parcel of land where the parking commercial vehicles is not allowed. A number of neighbors spoke out against the variance at a meeting three weeks ago. Rudloff will present a list of seven compromises he intends to follow to ease neighbors concerns about, among other things parking and snow removal. When the City Commission reconvenes, Commissioners will consider setting a bid date for bids on the construction of a water tower in the North Industrial park and award a bid for a surplus fire truck. The Commission will hear the Semi-Annual update from the Greater Huron Development Corporation and consider an agreement with Beadle County for the sharing of 9-1-1 telephone emergency call services. Commissioners will consider a funding agreement for road projects on 9th Street and Frank Avenue and consider multiple requests from the Huron Chamber and Visitor’s Bureau for Huron Harvest Fest. Lazer’s Liquor store has a request related to Harvest Fest before the Commission as well. The first reading of the 2011 City Budget ordinance is tonight and Commissioners will consider six departmental items with five of those relating to various personnel and human resource matters. The Huron City Commission meets tonight at 5:30 PM and the meeting is open to the public.
