The Huron City Commission is holding it’s regular weekly meeting tonight at the Huron Municipal Building. Commissioners will get an update on Civic Ready, the city’s new emergency notification system. An eight item consent agenda awaits Commissioners for approval. Items included a recommendation to hire a police detective, rehire a fire fighter and acknowledging that the liquor and malt beverage licenses for the Crossroads Hotel are being relinquished by the hotel’s owners. Semi-annual updates continue tonight with reports from the Huron Chamber and Visitor’s Bureau and the Business Improvement District Board. The Commission will also consider special event On-Sale Alcoholic Beverage licenses for the Huron Event Center. The first reading of an ordinance regarding the issuing of special licenses will be held. City Commissioner updates continue tonight in a work session. Commissioner Gary Harrington will update the Board on the boards and committees he oversees. The Huron City Commission is also scheduled to meet in executive session for a contractual matter.
