The Huron City Commission is meeting tonight at the Huron Municipal Building. Commissioners will consider a variance request, meeting as the Board of Adjustments. The variance is asking that a shed and garage only be placed on a vacant lot where code requires a principal building or dwelling unit. When the City Commission reconvenes, Commissioners will consider two bid items, a change order and a payment request. The Huron Senior Center will give a semi-annual update to the City Commission. A public hearing is also scheduled for a Home Occupation Permit filed by Gregory Todd, who would like to operate a lawn care and construction business at an address on Second Street Southwest. Three ordinances will have first readings tonight. One of those ordinances would change the Sunday sale for on and off sale liquor sales. The other two ordinances regard definitions and paid leaves of absence for city employees and airport zoning. Changes for garbage collection for the Labor Day holiday will be announced and the City Commission will begin work on the 2016 City Budget during a work session.
