The Huron City Commission is meeting tonight at the Huron Municipal Building. Commissioners will consider awarding a bid for a backup generator at the waste water plant and will consider renewing the Hunting Access and Habitat contract with the state Game Fish and Parks Department for the walk-in hunting area at the old west landfill. The Commission will take up consideration of a plat and an irrigation contract with the Huron Country Club. A resolution that removes covenants and restrictions on a portion of land within the South Town property are is on the agenda along with the first reading of a proposed zoning ordinance change that would allow metal roofing and garages on small lots without homes. The Commission will also consider hiring a Litter Control employee, to deal with loose debris around the city. A resident brought up issues regarding loose shopping bags during the City Commission meeting last week. There are no scheduled executive or work sessions for the Huron City Commission. The group meets tonight at 5:30 PM. The meeting is open to the public.
