City Commission Meets Monday Night

The Huron City Commission met Monday night and approved February 6th as the bid date for bids on the second year of manhole restoration work and for a self-propelled Rotary Front Mower. Also approved were two change order/payment requests for infrastructure projects. Commissioners also approved the Mayor sign a grant application to the State Office of Historic Preservation from the Deadwood fund for restoration work on the Campbell park band shell. The first reading of a hobby farm ordinance was deferred to next week because City Planner Ralph Borkowski was absent from last night’s meeting. Commissioner Dale Schneider wanted to know why the Commission should defer the ordinance and make any changes during the second reading next, two which Mayor Dave McGirr answered…

Commissioner Kerwin Haeder also noted he would like to see how the ordinance has changed since it was first brought to the Commission late last year. Commissioners also approved appointing Brad McGirr to the Park and Recreation Board before meeting in executive session for three items and holding a work session to review the Capital Improvement plan for the Park Board.
