City Commission Meets Monday Night

The Huron City Commission held it’s weekly meeting Monday night. Commissioners set October 3rd as the date to accept bids on a one-million gallon water tower to be constructed north of Trussbult in the North Industrial Park. City Engineer Mike Wever told Commissioners work on the tower likely would begin next spring. The Commission also accepted a bid of 4795-dollars for a surplus fire truck. Commissioners approved four requests from the Huron Chamber and Visitor’s Bureau for Huron Harvest Fest on October 8th. They include a Noise Permit, closing 3rd Street from Dakota to Illinois and Wisconsin Avenue from 2nd to 4th Streets, alcohol consumption in designated public areas and the use of garbage cans, picnic tables and bleachers. A special event On-Sale Alcohol licence filed by Lazer’s Liquor Store related to Harvest Fest was also approved. Commissioners re-appointed Robert Jones to represent Huron to the Mid-Dakota Rural Water System Board of Directors, approved four human resource matters and set October 14th as the tentative date for the surplus city auction.
