The Huron City Commission met for nearly an hour and half Monday night. Commissioners approved bids for Street milling and overlay, new paving and curb and gutter work. Also approved was a bid for sewer main lining. A bid for recycling scrap iron was deferred to the Commission’s meeting in two weeks. The Commission approved Brian Deide’s request for a home occupation permit to build and sell race car shock absorbers in his home. Approval was given to the annual Walk-in Hunting Area Access contract with the Game Fish and Parks Department. A special event alcohol license was approved for the Heartland Pool and Dart Tournament at the Crossroads. The Commission also approved the resignation of police officer Chris Doty and the hiring of an officer to fill Doty’s spot from the current list of police officer applicants off the Civil Service call for officers. The Commission ended the night in executive session for Negotiations and a personnel matter.
