The Huron City Commission meets tonight after taking last week off for Memorial Day. Commissioners will consider a change order for a street milling project. A public hearing will be held for 2012-2013 Malt Beverage and South Dakota Farm Wine License renewals. The Commission will consider a special event on-sale alcohol license filed by the South Dakota State Fair for the Grandstand area in designated party zones and V-I-P areas. Also up for consideration is a request by the Beadle County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League for use of the old trap range on the west side of the pistol and rifle range for use during the 8th annual Step Outside Program. The second and final reading of an change in the “Jake Brake” ordinance is tonight. Commissioners will consider a hiring recommendation for a part-time Golf pro shop attendant. Two items on the agenda relate to wellness programs in Huron. The Commission will consider a recommendation to authorize Human Resource Coordinator Pat Schmidt to apply for grants for the Ride Huron and Huron Get Fit Programs, and the consideration of authorizing the Mayor to sign a grant agreement with the South Dakota Department of Health to promote a work site wellness project. The Commission will meet in executive session for negotiations, then will hold a work session for a golf update and a consultant review of Task Order number One, a report for the Third Street Dam project. The Huron City Commission meets at 5:30 PM tonight and the meeting is open to the public.
