City Commission Holds Year End Meeting

The Huron City Commission tied up loose ends for 2011 and got ready for 2012 with their year end meeting Friday afternoon. Commissioners met as the Board of Adjustments and approved Gene and Carla Shonely’s variance request to construct a three-season room. Commissioners also approved the second reading of an ordinance designed to lower the minimum age for volunteer firefighters to 18. That ordinance should be in effect by the middle of January. Two changer order/payment requests were approved as was the contract with City Attorney Gerry Kaufman. Tentative approval was given to the Fraternal Order of Police contract with the city and a lease agreement with the Rolling Thunder Kart Club was approved. Also approved was a golf cart lease agreement which will see newer style golf carts at Broadland Creek this year and the certified pay schedule for 2012 was approved as well.
