City Commission Discusses Responsibility For 27th Street Northwest

The road was significantly maintained once, with the costs and operations being split between the city, Beadle County and the township. The road is needing crack sealing that is estimated at 18-thousand dollars. During previous discussions on the road, Beadle County officials have expressed little or no interest in helping with costs to maintain 27th Street Northwest. Commissioner Doug Kludt says if all parties were involved it would not be that big of an issue…

Mayor Paul Alyward says the city is willing to do it’s fair share on the road. Residents on the road are considering presenting the creation of a Road District to the Huron City Commission. The District would help pay for repairs to the road without taxing other residents of Theresa Township. The roughly 40 minutes spent discussing 27th Street Northwest was for informational purposes and the Huron City Commission took no action on items discussed.
