City Commission Defers Action on Inspection Fee Increases

Last night, the Huron City Commission deferred action on an ordinance that would increase certain fees charged by the city building inspector.

These fees cover re-inspection, if it is needed to confirm corrections have been made as required and also missed inspection appointments. This is assessed if an inspection is scheduled and the unit is not open to inspector, necessitating rescheduling of the inspection.

Some commissioners questioned the increase from the current fee of $20 to a maximum of $500 and requested more information from the city building inspector.

Since the commission will not meet next Monday due to the Memorial Day holiday, the commission deferred the matter for two weeks.

A reminder that the Solid Waste Department Rubble Site will be closed on Saturday, May 27th and Monday, May 29th in observance of Memorial Day Weekend.
