The Huron City Commission held it’s first meeting of the new year last night and approved a payment request by Maguire Iron of Sioux Falls for steel stockpiled for construction of a water tower near Dakota Provisions in the spring. Commissioners also approved a combined election agreement with the Huron School District. The combined election will be April 10th if needed The Commission approved a new insurance provider for the fire department. The new policy for property and inland marine coverage will save Huron19-hundred 58 dollars a year with a yearly premium of four-thousand 703 dollars. Full time status was approved for Police Chief Gary Will and the Commission accepted the resignation of police officer Matt Leddon. A civil service call was approved to find a person to fill Leddon’s vacancy on the department. And two human resource items related to the solid waste department were approved. The Huron City Commission will not meet next week in honor of the Martin Luther King holiday. That holiday means the city garbage collection will be different next week as outlined by Commissioner Jan Manolis…
