City Commission Back At It Tonight

The Huron City Commission meets tonight after having last week off in observance of Native American Day. The Commission will meet as the Board of Adjustment to hear a variance request filed by Christopher McClure, to operate a tattoo parlor, in an area where code says such a business is not allowed. When the City Commission reconvenes, Commissioners will hold a public hearing for a 2012-2013 retail on-off sale malt beverage license filed by the V-F-W Building Corporation. The Commission will consider an Urban Surface Transportation, Program Funding Agreement with the South Dakota Department of Transportation for work on 21st Street from Dakota Avenue east to Sherman Avenue. Commissioners will also consider releasing lots nine and ten from the Broadland Creek Industrial Park restrictive covenants. Departmental items include six human resource items including a recommendation to appoint Sergeant Dan Schlader as Acting Captain in the police department. The Commission will also consider approval of daily admission and season pass rates to the Splash Central water park. Negotiations and litigation are two items listed for consideration under executive session for the Huron City Commission which will meet tonight starting at 5:30 PM at the Huron Municipal Building.
