A variance moving through the approval process in Huron has hit an unusual hang up, not enough members on the Board of Adjustments to consider the request. Two Huron City Commissioners, Doug Kludt and Bryan Smith have recused themselves from considering the request. That leaves the Board short of the two-thirds vote needed to make a decision. The new Board would act as an independent board from the City Commission. State law allows members to serve for three years. Banks felt trying to get the Beadle County Commission would be the fastest temporary solution to get the pending variance dealt with. Commissioner Gary Harrington felt using the County could benefit both groups….
