City Commission Amends Cell Phone Policy For City Employees

Just days after the City of Huron approved a revised policy on cell phone use and distribution by city employees. The policy was back before the Huron City Commission Thursday. Mayor Dave McGirr says they found some parts of the policy would not work out…

The City will also have city-issued Department phones that will be provided to the water and wastewater departments for on call duties. Department phones will be monitored for non-City work-related or unnecessary use. Commissioners also talked about how use of personal phones during off-duty hours would deal with overtime per city employee union contracts. The Huron City Commission orginally had an executive session for negotiations on the agenda and added the cell phone issue for later.
