Governor Dennis Daugaard announced earlier this year that a million dollars of economic development Future Fund money is available to assist communities across the state. Huron’s plan is expected to cost $125-thousand dollars to implement. The group is hoping on have state money cover 50-percent of the the cost with businesses and the city covering the rest. Other features of Huron’s workforce development proposal included student retention and a rental housing locator. Huron’s 25-thousand dollar contribution is for one year, although the group was looking for a three commitment. Borszich says the workforce development initiative will be a multi year endeavor.
