The city commission has approved vacating one block of 66 foot dedicated street right-of-way on Center Street E located between Redfield Ave NE and Mitchell Ave NE in Morningside.
Jody Ramon owns the property north and south of the street right-of-way that she asked to be vacated. She explained that the street is not improved, isn’t being used as a road and doesn’t lead anywhere.
She has had issues with theft and recently an abandoned mobile home in the area was started on fire by vandals.
Since the property is located in the Joint Jurisdictional Area, the petition must also be heard by the Beadle County Commission.
