City Approves Request to Vacate Alley North of Taco John’s

Last night, the city approved a request from Pentex Restaurant Group, which owns Taco John’s in Huron, to vacate an alley on the north side of the restaurant’s parking lot.

The DOT will take six feet of Taco John’s for the expansion project on Dakota Avenue North.

Because of this, the building has to be re-orientated. The alley vacation is needed to allow customers to make the turn into the business and have access to parking and the drive-up window.

Taco Johns plans to raze the existing restaurant and rebuild on the same lots.

Brad Letcher stated that the DOT project will be done in 4 phases in 2019 with the part of the project in front of Taco Johns being the last phase which means that Taco John’s doesn’t have to be closed any longer than necessary.

Brett Itterman, CEO of Pentex Restaurant Group says they want to start construction in the spring of next year.

The company will also purchase the property located to the north of the restaurant.
