Last night, Police Chief Kevin VanDiepen asked the city to approve a job description for a new Detective Captain position within the Huron Police Department.
VanDiepen explained the reasoning behind the new position.
He says it will also allow the police department to put two more officers on the street.
VanDiepen says when you consider the benefits of the new position the cost to the city is slight.
The job will be posted internally. The pay range will be the same as other captain positions within the department.
The city commission will not meet next Monday and city offices will be closed in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
The Huron Solid Waste Department rubble site will be closed on Monday January 15th.
Monday’s garbage and recycle will be collected on Wednesday January 17th so please remember to set your garbage and recycle containers out Tuesday night. Trucks will not be rerouted.
