The fourth week of the Huron Citizen’s Police Academy is tonight. This week students will learn about issues related to the use of deadly and non-deadly force by not only police, but by citizens as well. Those issues will be discussed in relationship to current South Dakota law. The class will view a video entitled Hollywood vs Reality: Officer involved shootings and the night will end with an overview of the Huron Police Department’s Special Response Team. The fifth week of the Citizen’s Police Academy will take students to the firing range on Saturday morning, to live fire actual weapons in the Department’s arsenal. Saturday will also include a section on Special Response Team Entry. At the conclusion of the week four class students will be able take part in two-four hour long ride-alongs with the Huron Police Department
