The Workforce Housing Study task force created by the South Dakota legislature met in Pierre on Tuesday. The purpose of the committee is to look into the shortage of affordable housing in South Dakota and see what can be done to alleviate the problem.
District 22 Representative Roger Chase of Huron is a member of the committee, he says Tax Increment Financing has been a major area of discussion.
Chase says the housing crunch isn’t just a South Dakota problem.
Chase believes Huron is tackling the issue upfront.
The study group will meet again in late Sept. or early Oct to discuss possible legislation for the 2018 session.
