Chase Says Its the “Wrong Time” for Pay Raise for Lawmakers

The state house has voted to advance a measure that would let voters decide whether legislators deserve a pay raise, the first since the early 1990s.

District 22 Representative Roger Chase says he was among those voting against the proposal.

Chase says among the factors playing into his decision was the lack of a pay raise for teachers and state employees this year.

The House passed the bill by a vote of 38-26. It now goes to the Senate.
