Lawmakers are gearing for the start of the 2019 South Dakota legislative session.
District 22 Representative Roger Chase says he expects the state budget to be a big issue again this year.
Chase believes workforce housing and property taxes will also be major areas of concern for the legislature.
The nursing home shortage in South Dakota is also something lawmakers will be looking at.
While he is looking forward to working with Governor-elect Kristi Noem, Chase says there are some unknowns with the new Governor.
The South Dakota legislative session begins next Tuesday.
