Two Summer study committees are taking place this year for the SD Legislature. One concerns long term care, the other deals with county expenses. The county Summer study committee is being chaired by Representative Roger Chase of Huron. Chase said the meeting earlier this month was just the start of the process.
Chase said the intent is to learn as much about county spending as possible.
SD Attorney General Marty Jackley released the final ballot explanation for the proposed constitutional amendment that would revise legislative term limits. If the required just over 35,000 valid signatures are approved by the Secretary of States office, the measure would appear on the November 2024 ballot. Chase is in his final term as representative he said before the election last November that he would not seek another legislative seat. Chase said as far as term limits this is the latest attempt.
