Today marks Native American Day in South Dakota and that means some changes on your Monday. The Huron City Commission is not holding a regular weekly meeting this week. The Huron School Board of Education will hold it’s meeting this week on Tuesday at the Instructional Planning Center on the second floor of the Huron Arena at 5:30 PM tomorrow. City of Huron waste collection of garbage, yard and recycling for today will be moved to Wednesday. All other weekly collections will remain on their scheduled days this week. Huron. Sanborn Central and Wessington Springs all have no school today, although Wessington Springs has the day listed as Extra Help Day. Columbus Day in South Dakota was change d to Native American Day in 1989 under then Governor George Mickelson.
