While the year has been a struggle for many ag producers across the northern plains due to wet conditions, there is one piece of good news now as it appears the chances for an early frost are diminishing.
During the monthly north central regional climate update, Montana State Climatologist Kelsey Jencso says based on historical records, October is the month for the first frost.
Jencso says the outlook for next month indicates above normal temperatures.
Jencso says the three month forecast, October through December, shows mild and fairly wet conditions.
Jencso says the official winter forecast will be released by the Climate Prediction Center on October seventeenth.
