Cell Phone Retailers Getting Surcharge Information

The South Dakota Department of Revenue will be mailing information out to all sellers of prepaid wireless service and telecommunication providers about upcoming changes to the collection and remittance of the 911 Emergency Surcharge and the new Prepaid Wireless 911 Emergency Surcharge.  Jan Talley is the Director of the Business Tax Division who told us that this is the result of senate bill 174 from the legislative session that ended weeks ago…

Talley said that the registration process for retailers is simple.   This surcharge takes effect on July 1st.
