Ranchers from across the region are tackling a lot of issues from oil prices to cattle prices. Under great scrutiny is industry competition. Officials from the South Dakota Stock Growers Association say the meat-packing industry is taking advantage of ranchers by manipulating livestock prices. They say companies keep cattle prices low, keep consumer prices the same, and then pocket the difference. Vice President Shane Kolb says they want the USDA to implement rules for grain inspection procedures putting these issues in the sunlight….
