Car Stolen In Huron, Burned In Mitchell

It started as a possible grass fire near Mitchell, and turned out to be far more serious. A car stolen early Sunday morning in Huron was found by Mitchell police, burning near a trailer court in that city. Dispatchers in Mitchell received a call of a possible grass fire around 1 AM. When authorities arrived in the 900 block of West 2nd Avenue, they saw the car of Leann Blasdell engulfed in flames. Mitchell police advised Blasdell to contact Huron police about the stolen car report.  Blasdell didn’t know her car had been stolen until told it was found, burned in Mitchell.  Mitchell authorities say a mobile home was not on fire, nor do they believe a second car was stolen near the site. It is unknown if authorities in Mitchell or Huron have any suspects, witnesses or persons of interest in the case
