It will cost you just a little more to do that building project in 2014. The Huron City Commission approved changes to some building permit fees. City Building Inspector Roger Bell says the fees for various permits required to build homes, re-shingle, side or do other work, haven’t been raised since 2006 and Huron’s fees are some of the lowest among eight of the largest cities in the state. Commissioner Mark Robish says the changes don’t amount to significant increases…
As an example, Bell said the City of Spearfish charges a fee of 107-dollars per square foot for construction of a new house. Huron, before the changes approved Monday night, charged 67-dollars per square foot. The changes came about after several local building officials came to the City to inquire about the current values used to determine building permit costs last week.
