Budget Deal Ends Brief Government Shutdown

The Senate and House took turns approving a four hundred-billion-dollar budget deal, but forced a short term government shutdown in the process.

The approval came early this morning, but the government officially ran out of money at midnight.

South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds says the deal is still a work in process

Rounds says a number of programs will be covered under the spending plan

Rounds says he pushed for some additional funding

Rounds says it will enable the military to repair and reactivate equipment ranging from submarines to aircraft needed around the world.
