Manufacturing businesses in town have worked with the Development Corporation to start a Workforce Development Program to meet the need for skilled workers in the area. 126-thousand dollars in Community Development Block Grant funding will help train in the areas of math for manufacturing, forklift operation and more. Borszich says over 500 jobs are open in the area…

The Greater Huron Development Corporation is planning on building a 50-thousand square foot spec building in the West Industrial park. The pad to be poured for the facility will be poured to accommodate a 100-thousand square foot building so the spec building could be doubled in size. Most companies have said Huron’s existing spec buildings are too small. All other buildings currently have occupants.
