The Board of Education approved the contract for a new Huron Middle School principal during a special Monday night meeting.
Laura Willemssen currently serves as assistant principal at the middle school.
After graduating from Huron High School, Willemssen earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Dakota and a masters degree from the University of Sioux Falls.
Willemssen will replace longtime principal Mike Taplett who will retire in June.
